Flu shots, frequently asked.
Is the flu shot free?
Yes. Flu shots are free with a valid Ontario health card.
Can I walk in, or do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome when supply allows. Booking ahead means faster service and a dose held for you.
What age groups can get the flu shot?
We provide flu shots to individuals aged 5 and older. Ages 5 to 64 receive the standard flu shot, and patients 65 and over receive the High-Dose formulation.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Yes. In fact, the flu shot is recommended for those who are pregnant.
I was just sick. Should I wait before getting the flu shot?
You can usually get the flu shot once you're feeling better and no longer have a fever. For mild illnesses like a cold, it's typically safe to receive the vaccine. If you're unsure, ask our pharmacist or your healthcare provider before booking.
Do you have the High-Dose vaccine for seniors (65+)?
Yes. We keep a dedicated supply of the High-Dose formulation for patients 65 and older, as recommended by Ontario Health, and it has its own booking door above. The live supply board shows whether it is in stock today; call us for same-day confirmation.
Can I get my COVID-19 shot at the same time?
Yes. It is safe and convenient to receive both vaccines in the same visit. Just let us know when you book or arrive.
Will the shot give me the flu?
No. The flu shot contains inactive virus and cannot cause the flu. Some patients may experience a sore arm or mild achiness, which is just a sign your immune system is working.
